뉴질랜드 국가 ' God depend New Zealand' 가사

1870년대초 토마스 브래큰(Thomas Bracken)이 가사를 쓴 뒤  작곡을 위해 10기니를 내걸었다. 1940년 오타고 학교 선생님이었던 존 조셉 우즈(John Joseph Woods)가 뉴질랜드 센테니얼 카운슬의 추천을 받아 이 상금을 받았다.  그 뒤 정부는 영국 여왕의 동의를  얻어 1977년 저작권 구입과 함께  'God Defend New Zealand'를 공식 국가로 선포했다. God Defend New Zealand는 이때부터 비로서 God Save the Queen과 함께 뉴질랜드 국가의 하나로 동등한 지위를 획득했다.  보통 영어 1절 뒤 마오리어 1절을 이어  부르게 됩니다.
